The Ins & Outs of CH&L

We've had a few questions about things at CH&L. We understand. We are not your typical cupcake & cake shop. So here are the questions and answers for everything you've been dying to know about us:

1. Are you the owner?
One of them. There are two of us that are business partners at Cake, Hope, & Love. My name is Shannon and the other gal is Connie. Both of us are equally equipped to handle any cake needs you can throw at us.

2. Do you have cupcakes I can just walk in and buy?
We sure do! Our daily menu is over there on the right hand column. Those are the cupcakes we have on any given day we're open that you can walk and and purchase right off the counter. If your favorite flavor isn't on the rotation, you can call ahead a few hours (24 hours is best) and place a special order for them. There are  no additional charges for special orders.

3. Do you have cakes I can walk and buy?
Here's where we get tricky. We don't have premade sheet cakes hanging around the bakery. Actually, we never have sheet cakes. We don't make sheet cakes, quarter sheet cakes, or half sheet cakes. There are lots of lovely bakeries around the area that can make those. At CH&L we are creating specialty cakes. We think every person is unique, and their cake should be too. So, checked the booked dates over there on the right, and then if we've got the date open, we're in business to create you a custom cake. We prefer to have a week's notice on our orders, but you can call the day ahead and see if we can squeeze you in. Some of our best work has been done under pressure.

4. Fondant is pretty gross. Do I have to get fondant on my cake?
Well, it depends on the design. There are just certain things, like hand painted designs, that have to be done on fondant. Did I mention we order our fondant in? I haven't had a person yet think our fondant tasted bad after sampling a small bit. It smells like sugar and tastes a bit like marshmallows. Plus, there's a generous portion of buttercream under the fondant. It's the glue that holds the fondant on the cake. That's better than any of the pastes some of you ate in elementary school.

5. Are your sweets peanut/gluten/dairy/soy/sugar free?
No. While your chocolate cake may not have peanut butter buttercream, we make our famous peanut butter buttercream everyday and we cannot guarantee there wasn't some cross contamination. We can make a mean chocolate vegan cake, but we need advance notice for those. We're also currently working on Gluten Free items. It may take us a bit. We're going all the way on this. From pans, beaters, and work surfaces that are special to use only for our Gluten Free items. We're hoping to cater to our Cake Nation peep with Celiacs.

Well, I think that about covers it. If you have any other questions, email me at thebestcake@gmail.com and ask away. I'll post them with answers here for all to see.
