1st week at the Cake Shop

Cake Nation! How I've missed posting for you! We've been B.U.S.Y. at the shop. You guys have purchased literally thousands of cupcakes from us in just two weeks. And cakes, boy oh boy, are you all ordering cakes. So, I thought I would post a few of the orders, cupcakes and cakes, that went out our first full week at the shop.

Wedding Display

Wedding season is upon us! This makes my heart go pitter patter. This means I get to make sugar flowers. I love sugar flowers ... and ribbon ... and luster dust. Here is a beautiful set up for an equally gorgeous bride, Danielle. Thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding! Happy Honeymoon!

Cupcake Cake

I love making these. I especially love making these for girls. Cake Nation, you know how much I love me some luster dust and pinks and purples. So, I was over the moon on this! Here's what we made for our smallest and one of our favorite cupcakers.

Floral Retirement Order

Cake Nation - you all are some amazing peeps. I love getting to know you all through your orders. This order was VERY near and dear to my heart. This fantastic lady was my very first paying customer and she is one of the most caring and giving people I've had the privilege to know. Marcia is retiring from 30+ years of children's ministries. The world is a better place for her being in it. Happy Retirement, Marcia!

Trail of Life Cake

Cake Nation, we had the privilege to bake for a 20 year cancer survivor. It's her 60th birthday and this cake is a nod to her amazing life. The signs represent things that she has accomplished and things that make her uniquely her. The trail and the outdoor theme is representing her extreme love of the outdoors and all the activities that accompany that. The three little blue birds at the top are for each of her three lovely grandchildren. We hope this cake can sweeten what is already going to be a fantastic celebration for an AMAZING woman. OSU Graduation Cake

Cakers, I am a huge Buckeye fan. I mean, I like OSU almost as much as I like cake.  So, when a customer asked for this cake, I did a little seat dance. I was given free reign on design, so this what I came up with. Congrats on your college graduation, Sharlene!

Lego Cake

Cakers, I cannot lie, I love you all. You're like cake family to me. The customer that ordered this cake, is like dear cake family. She was one of my very first customers, and she has been one of my most frequent customers. When she emailed me a few weeks ago about a Lego cake, I was thrilled. I hope you had a very happy birthday, Elijah!

Minnie inspired cake

Good morning, Cake Nation! We've got a few posts to put up for you, so hang on to your keyboards. First up, this sweet cake inspired by Minnie Mouse and all things girly. Once again, I was in pearl shimmer heaven. This cake was for a customer that ordered a year ago for her daughter Tabitha's first birthday. I was SO very happy to have the chance to bake again for her this year. Buttercream makes such sweet memories for all of us! Enjoy and happy birthday, Tabitha!

Necco Wafer Cake

Cake Nation. Sometimes, just sometimes you all throw me a curve ball. Like for example, this cake. I get the order and I am needing to somehow incorporate chocolate Necco Wafers in to the design of the cake. It took a little shopping to even find Necco wafers (thanks to the Cake Nation peeps on FB). Here's the design I came up with. After all was said and done, it ended up being one of my favorite cakes.

Pink and Green Cupcakes

Cakers, you all love your cupcakes. I love that you love our cupcakes as much as you seem to love our cakes! Here's an order that I loved! Pink and Green. I made these for my very favorite little cupcaker, Charlize Rain.

Train Cake

Sometimes there are those customers that you fall in love with. You know, the ones that you actually mark their birthdays on the calendar and wait around for the phone call when the time comes? Yeah, this is one of those families. This cake was for their son, Joey's, 2nd birthday. This cake is a vegan cake that is also soy free. It's a snickerdoodle cake with vanilla frosting. Happy Birthday, Joey!

Fairy Godmother Project

Here at CH&L we LOVE to give back to the community. We try to give as often and as generously as we can. This quarter, we donated 250 cupcakes and a cake to Clothes that Work in affiliation with The Fairy Godmother Project. It was our honor and our pleasure to be a part of this event and look forward to help making young girls' special day that much sweeter again next year.

Paintball Cake

Sometimes I get orders that stump me for a bit. Like this one. A paintball themed cake. While I do have two boys, I have never been paintballing. So, this order took a lot of research to come up with a design. Hope you like it, Cakers!

Zebra Print 10th Birthday!

Cakers, do you know how much I  adore zebra print on cakes? Sigh. I love it. So, I was VERY happy to have a cake client email me and ask for it. I hope the little birthday lady enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed making it!

Welcome Home Cake

This cake was going along with 6 dozen cupcakes to a soldier coming home after his second tour in Afghanistan. It is our honor and our pleasure to be able to create this cake as a gift to someone to amazing who does so much for our country. Thanks for your service, Brian!

Ahoy Cake Nation! This order was a BLAST to make. This is one of the cakes that I had saved to my computer as Wish Cake. This design is not my original concept, I just had the pleasure of  tweaking it and making mine. So, here you go, Cakers, the Pirate Order!

Holy Stacks of Scrumptious Cupcakes, Batman!

Cake Nation! I've missed posting on here for you. We've been up to our eyeballs in cupcakes. Seriously, you all are amazing. Our Valentines Packs went over smashingly. So, now, we're working on St.Patty's Packs. I know! Squee! I know one of the flavors will be a Chocolate Stout Cake with a Salted Caramel Buttercream. It's ok to seat dance. I did. Welcome to the Jungle

Cake Nation! How are you? Staying warm I hope. This cake is another order for Icing Smiles, Inc. Remember, we made the iCarly Cake a while back for them? Well, this cake is for a little boy turning 1. His name is Milosh. When Milosh was in NICU as a baby, he was dubbed the Lion Prince. So, we took that theme and ran with it. Happy Birthday, Milosh!

Cake Nation! How are you? I hope the new year is off to a fabulous start. Here at CH&L we're loving the orders you all are sending us. This cake was tons of fun to make. Not to mention, your newest favorite Cake Lady, Connie, was getting some fondant time in. This cake was a vanilla cake with a cookies and cream filling. Donkey Kong himself was hand crafted by yours truly. Enjoy!

Pink Birthday Cake

So, this was a great weekend for cakes. I had two Cake Nation peeps call and ask me to make cakes and they just wanted them pretty. Sigh. I've been elbow deep in fondant flowers and luster dust. Not a bad way to spend a Friday morning. So, here's my Pretty in Pink birthday cake.

Everyone all together now .... Awwwww! So cute. I love flowers. And butterflies. And pink. I just love this cake. So, this is an 8" rich chocolate cake filled with CH&L Vanilla buttercream. Tastes as good as it looks, I tell ya.

20th Birthday Cake

Cake Nation, I love when one of you call and say something like - just make it pretty. My heart soars in to fondant heaven. Really, it does. So, here's one of those cakes.

This is a 10" moist Srawberry cake filled with creamy buttercream and fresh sliced strawberries. Delicious.
